Cognism vs LeadSonar: Published Evidence Compared 2026
Short answer: comparing what each vendor actually publishes, LeadSonar is the strongest pick for outbound teams that want a published price and a measured bounce rate before a sales call, and here is where Cognism beats it.
- LeadSonar [Best for teams that refuse to pay for lookups that return nothing and want a published price before a sales call]
- Cognism [Best for phone-first EMEA teams whose procurement requires published ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II certification plus multi-country DNC screening]
This page decides on one axis: what each vendor actually publishes about its price and its accuracy, as of July 20, 2026.
LeadSonar processed a 37,040-contact US outbound list that a customer then actually mailed, and only 0.55% bounced. That is measured 2026 production data with the sample size stated.

Cognism's own FAQ gives the reason: "Cognism pricing is tailored based on the product you need, your team setup and how you plan to use the platform." That is a legitimate enterprise sales model, and it decides whether this comparison is decidable for you at all.
Sources and method are at the end of this page.
LeadSonar at a glance
LeadSonar finds, verifies, enriches and scores B2B contacts in one workspace. The mechanism is a waterfall cascade: given a first name, last name and company domain, it queries sources in tiered order and stops the moment a source returns a result.
LeadSonar cascades each contact through 18 to 20 data sources, resolves roughly 85% of contacts across that cascade, sustains 23.5 enriched profiles per second on a production 5,000-record run, and charges only for the contacts the waterfall finds.
The pieces that matter to a Cognism evaluator:
- Single credit pool. Lead credits reveal a contact. Enrichment credits pay for ICP scoring, company summaries, subject lines, openers and email or phone enrichment. Search and filtering cost nothing.
- Per-filled-cell CSV billing. You are charged per row per field we actually populate, and cells we fail to fill are refunded at their per-field weight.
- Explainable ICP scoring: an A/B/C/D grade, a 0-100 score, a fit label and a written reason on every lead.
- Sonya, the natural-language agent, on every plan including the free trial. Type "find 20 CTOs at SaaS companies in London with 50-200 employees" and it runs search, verify, enrich, score and export.
- REST API for find-email, find-phone, bulk enrich and credit balance. Node, Python and Go SDKs are roadmap items; cURL and HTTP ship today.
Database scale is a 120M+ B2B contact database, plus 45M+ B2C, with each record resolved live through the waterfall when you reveal it rather than sitting pre-checked on a shelf.
Cognism at a glance
Cognism Ltd is a UK-headquartered B2B sales intelligence platform selling into enterprise, mid-market and SMB revenue teams, with its centre of gravity in EMEA. The published product line splits three ways: Sales Prospecting (Standard and Pro), CRM Enrichment, and Data-as-a-Service by API or bulk file.
As of July 20, 2026, Cognism publishes two Sales Prospecting packages, Standard and Pro, each described as including 5 seats, with no price attached to either.
What Cognism ships, per its own pricing page:
- Contact and company data: revenue, headcount, HQ, emails, mobiles, job titles, work history and technology usage on both packages.
- Verified mobile numbers and on-demand mobile verification, described as "a premium feature" that "allows users to select high-priority prospects and submit them for advanced verification."
- Contextual signals (hiring, funding and M&A, job changes) plus intent data through Bombora Company Surge, where administrators "can select up to 12 intent topics from a library of over 11,000 options."
- AI company research, an AI persona builder and AI search, plus CSV enrichment, SSO, CRM enrichment and API or bulk delivery. API access requires a prospecting seat.
- Credits: one credit reveals one contact, revealed contacts cost nothing to view again, and "a credit is only used again if that contact changes jobs." That rule is genuinely good for teams re-working the same list for years.
Published evidence and published access compared
Two things a buyer needs before signing: what it costs, and how good the data is. Measure each vendor by what it puts in public where you can check it.
As of July 20, 2026, cognism.com/pricing displays no currency figure of any kind, and every plan CTA on the page reads "Talk to sales", "Talk to an expert" or "Book a demo".
Access. LeadSonar's path from landing page to first exported contact is a signup, no credit card, under 2 minutes. Cognism's published path to every product, including standalone Data-as-a-Service, is a conversation with its team. Both models are legitimate and they select for different buyers. A 6-person agency evaluating four vendors in one week can finish a LeadSonar evaluation in an afternoon and cannot finish four demo cycles at all.
Seat math. Take a 3-person outbound team. LeadSonar Starter is $29 per month for the workspace, and the third seat changes that figure by nothing, because the plan is workspace-priced. Cognism's Standard package is published as including 5 seats, so a 3-person team buys 5 seats' worth of package. We cannot tell you what that costs, because Cognism does not publish it.
Cost per verified contact. On a credit model the honest unit is the price of a contact you can actually mail, after failures are stripped out. LeadSonar's structural answer: a lookup that returns nothing is marked not_found and never billed, so your bill and your usable-contact count converge by design. Cognism's published credit rule covers a successful reveal and a job change, and its pricing page states nothing about a search that returns no record, so we make no claim there.
Waterfall against single-source. Cognism's published architecture is its own proprietary database. LeadSonar's is a cascade across 18 to 20 sources, with roughly 85% of contacts resolving somewhere in it and roughly 15% genuine misses the customer is never charged for. A cascade gives you a second, third and fourth attempt on the contact the first source missed. One engagement running through this pipeline scaled to roughly 5,000,000 enrichments as a flat package, and a separate customer ran a 220,000-record batch plus a 293,000-record gap-fill through the identical cascade.
What each vendor publishes about accuracy
Here is the distinction the category dodges: a syntactically valid email address and an actually delivered email address are different measurements. Almost every accuracy percentage published in B2B data describes the first one. Buyers care about the second one.
Of 37,040 outbound contacts LeadSonar processed and a customer actually mailed in 2026, 99.98% carried a valid MX record and 0.55% produced a hard bounce.
LeadSonar's published numbers, each with its denominator and period:
| Measurement | Figure | Sample | Period | |---|---|---|---| | Valid MX record | 99.98% (6 of 37,040 lacked one) | 37,040 US outbound records | 2026 production | | Hard bounce when actually mailed | 0.55% (204 records) | 37,040 US outbound records | 2026 production | | Founder / C-suite / VP+ titles | 95.2% | 37,040 US outbound records | 2026 production | | A-grade ICP | 40.6% (41,782) | 103,000 scored B2B contacts | 2026 production | | B-grade or better | 91.4% (A 40.6% plus B 50.8%) | 103,000 scored B2B contacts | 2026 production |
All figures are LeadSonar 2026 production measurements; sample sizes and method are in the Methodology at the end.
The bounce line is the one that matters. A 550-5.1.1 NoSuchUser response from Google means a mailbox that does not exist, and it is the only accuracy verdict that cannot be argued with. That code plus 550-5.2.1 DisabledUser on inactive mailboxes accounted for the bulk of the 204 hard bounces, measured through SMTP responses on real sends.
Cognism does not publish an accuracy figure with a sample size, protocol and date as of July 2026. It publishes customer outcomes instead: a 34% contact-rate improvement quoted from an SDR manager at Druva on its compliance page, plus case-study headlines from DinMo, AVEVA, Openprise and SaleCycle. Those are real customer results and we dispute none of them. They answer a different question from the one an accuracy row asks. Two further observations about the published material, both checkable in one click: Cognism's own vs-Apollo comparison page quotes no dollar amount for either vendor, and its "alternatives I've tested" blog post presents accuracy percentages with no stated sample size, protocol or capture date.
The asymmetry on this row is deliberate and we state it plainly: one vendor here publishes measured production numbers with denominators, and the other publishes none. That describes disclosure alone, and it carries no verdict on Cognism's data quality, which we have never measured and will not guess at.
Where Cognism wins
Two places, both real, both material.
1. EU and UK compliance posture. Cognism publishes, on cognism.com/compliance: ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification, SOC 2 Type II compliance, notification of business contacts within GDPR timeframes, telephone-database screening against DNC and TPS registries in 13 named countries including the UK (TPS and CTPS), Germany, France and the US, a 72-hour breach-notification commitment, and processing under the legitimate-interest lawful basis at Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, with data generally held inside the EEA.
That is a procurement-grade published posture and the correct reason to buy Cognism. LeadSonar makes no certification claim of its own here, because we publish only claims backed by signed paperwork, so a security review that requires a certificate number in the vendor file is answered today by Cognism. The redirect is narrow: a certification governs how a vendor handles data and says nothing about whether a given mailbox exists. A team with a compliance mandate should buy Cognism for it. A team without one is paying an enterprise cycle for a control it does not need.
2. Phone-verified mobile coverage for EMEA. Cognism's Pro package publishes a premium mobile filter, verified mobile numbers, and on-demand mobile verification where a rep flags high-priority prospects for advanced verification. For an SDR team whose primary channel is the dial in the UK, DACH or the Nordics, that combination plus multi-country DNC screening is a stronger published phone offering than ours. LeadSonar ships a phone finder with mobile and direct-dial numbers, carrier, line-type and region validation on an independent parallel cascade, and we publish no mobile-coverage percentage for EMEA. Our evidence base is email deliverability. If the phone is your primary European channel, the axis this page wins on is the wrong axis for you.
LeadSonar is focused lead intelligence: find, verify, enrich and score, on a 120M+ B2B database (plus 45M+ B2C). Pair it with the sender, dialer or CRM you already run. If you want prospecting bundled with published EMEA compliance certifications and phone-first coverage in one procurement cycle, Cognism is the better fit.
Choose Cognism if...
- Your legal or security review requires a vendor with published ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II certification. This is a hard threshold and LeadSonar does not clear it today. Do not let a salesperson, including ours, talk you around it.
- Your primary outbound channel is the phone in EMEA and DNC screening across UK TPS and CTPS plus 12 other national registries is a compliance requirement. Cognism publishes that screening list by country. We do not.
- Your procurement is comfortable with an annual agreement and a quote-only price, and a 5-seat package matches your team shape.
If two or more of those describe you, stop reading comparison pages and book their demo.
Which one fits you
Best for: email-first outbound teams needing verified addresses and a published price in the week they start evaluating. LeadSonar.
Best for: phone-first EMEA SDR teams dialling UK, DACH and Nordic decision-makers where multi-country DNC screening is a procurement line item. Cognism.
Best for: agencies running outbound for 5 or more client ICPs at once, where the bill has to track results rather than headcount. LeadSonar, because misses are absorbed and CSV enrichment bills per filled cell.
Best for: enterprise revenue teams whose security review demands certificate numbers in the vendor file before a pilot is approved. Cognism.
Best for: founder-led sales at seed and Series A, where one person prospects and a 5-seat package is dead weight. LeadSonar, at $29 per month for the workspace with no seat floor.
Best for: GTM teams needing a warehouse feed by API or bulk file with a named account manager. Cognism's Data-as-a-Service, priced on records and volume by quote.
Where LeadSonar Fits
Hold every vendor in this category to one standard: make them show you a number with a denominator, a date and a method. A bare accuracy percentage with no sample size fails that test.
Ours is on the record and checkable against this page's methodology: of 37,040 contacts LeadSonar processed and a customer actually mailed in 2026, only 0.55% bounced. In a separate 103,000-contact scoring run, more than 91% of leads came back at B grade or better, each with a written reason.
To check that against your own list rather than our page, the free trial runs 7 days with no card and carries 1,000 leads. Run 200 of your hardest contacts through it, mail them, and compare the bounce report to what your current vendor promised.
FAQ
How much does Cognism cost in 2026? Cognism does not publish pricing as of July 2026. The pricing page lists two Sales Prospecting packages, Standard and Pro, each described as including 5 seats, and every plan button routes to a demand for a sales conversation. Cognism's own FAQ states that pricing is tailored based on the product you need, your team setup and how you plan to use the platform. Any dollar figure you find attributed to Cognism on a third-party listicle did not come from Cognism.
Does Cognism have a free trial? Cognism publishes no free tier or self-serve trial on its pricing page as of July 2026. The published entry points are a demo booking and a free data sample. LeadSonar publishes a 7-day free trial with no credit card, carrying 1,000 leads, and the Sonya AI agent is included on it.
What is the best Cognism alternative for a small outbound team? For a team under roughly 15 people that needs to start this week rather than next quarter, LeadSonar is the strongest pick. The entry plan is $29 per month for the workspace with no seat minimum, setup takes under 2 minutes, and failed lookups are never billed. For an EMEA team whose primary channel is the phone, Cognism remains the stronger fit.
Does Cognism charge for lookups that return nothing? Cognism's published credit rule is that one credit is used each time a contact record is revealed, that a revealed record stays usable for the contract term, and that a credit is only used again if the contact changes jobs. Cognism's pricing page does not state what happens when a search returns no record, so we make no claim about it. LeadSonar's rule is published in the opposite direction: a lookup that returns no result is absorbed by LeadSonar and never billed.
How accurate is Cognism data? We mailed a real 37,040-contact list from LeadSonar and only 0.55% bounced. That is measured 2026 production data with the sample size stated. Cognism does not publish an accuracy figure with a sample size, protocol and date as of July 2026, and we have never tested Cognism's database, so we will not put a number on it.
Is Cognism worth it in 2026? Cognism is worth the procurement cycle if your motion is phone-first in the UK, DACH or wider EMEA and your legal team requires a vendor that publishes ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II certification plus DNC screening across 13 named national registries. Those are real, published, checkable advantages. If your motion is email-first and you need a price before a sales call, the fit is weaker.
What is the cheapest B2B contact data tool with verified emails? LeadSonar publishes a $29 per month entry plan carrying 50,000 lead credits, in a category whose published floors run $59 to $199. We cannot rank Cognism on price because Cognism publishes none as of July 2026.
How many contacts does LeadSonar have? LeadSonar's database is 120M+ B2B contacts plus 45M+ B2C contacts. Rather than sitting pre-checked on a shelf, each record is resolved live through the waterfall cascade when you reveal it, and a lookup that returns no result is never billed. Cognism markets global coverage but does not publish a comparable verified-count figure on its pricing page as of July 2026.
Does LeadSonar work for agencies? Yes. LeadSonar is workspace-priced with no seat minimum, so an agency running outbound for several client ICPs at once pays for results rather than headcount. Misses are absorbed and never billed, and CSV enrichment is charged per filled cell, so a five-client agency is not paying five seat licences. Cognism's Standard and Pro packages are published as including 5 seats each, priced by quote.
Methodology
Competitor sources. cognism.com/pricing and cognism.com/compliance, both fetched July 20, 2026. Every Cognism plan name, seat count, credit rule, feature, certification and quoted sentence here comes from one of those two pages. No review-site score, third-party rating or listicle was used, because a vendor fact is checkable only when it sits on a property the vendor controls. No Cognism price appears on this page because Cognism publishes none.
LeadSonar sources. Plan pricing and credit allotments from leadsonar.io, captured July 20, 2026, at monthly billing. Production figures from two anonymized 2026 datasets: a 103,000-contact B2B file streamed end to end with zero pipeline errors across all rows, and a 37,040-record US outbound file that was enriched, personalized and actually mailed. LeadSonar plan prices were captured from leadsonar.io on July 20, 2026: the month-to-month figures ($29 Starter, $79 Growth, $199 Pro, $499 Scale) are published directly on the site.
Normalization. Entry Sales Prospecting tier against entry Sales Prospecting tier, at monthly billing where published, with seat comparisons stated at a 3-person team: LeadSonar Starter at $29 per month against Cognism Standard. That normalization is one-sided by necessity, because Cognism publishes a tier name and a seat count for Standard with no price attached, leaving no arithmetic to run on their side. LeadSonar's plans are workspace-priced, so seat count does not change the figure. Cognism's Standard and Pro packages are published as including 5 seats each.
Limitations. LeadSonar has never benchmarked Cognism's database and this page contains no measurement of it. The 37,040-record sample is US-weighted and skews toward software, advertising and IT-consulting industries, so its bounce rate should not be read as a global figure. Open-rate tracking was absent from that export, and four of its columns were empty or constant and were excluded as unusable. Company size was unknown on 33.6% of the 103,000-contact file. Roadmap items including webhooks and the SDKs are excluded from every feature row.
